Obituary
Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Rosalie “Rosie” Bearcrane “Sings in the Mountain” went home to be with Jesus on December 30, 2019. Born May 28, 1936 to Alice Laforge and Stephan Bird Faraway in Crow Agency, MT. Rosie was raised in the Lodge Grass area and graduated from Lodge Grass High School. She met and married her husband of 65 years, Earl Bearcrane. They eventually made their home in Billings and raised 8 children. Beginning at an early age Rosie was an exceptional student, eventually earning a Teaching Degree and Master's Degree in Education and as a Reading Specialist. She taught elementary school for 23 years in Billings, after which she continued to teach on the Crow Reservation and then taught at Billings Senior High School. She also taught at Eastern Montana College. Rosie loved spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren in all. She was everyone's Grandma and Kaala. Rosie loved to listen to her favorite Christian songs and spend time beading and sewing for her children and grandchildren. Rosie touched many, many lives; she was known for her close walk with the Lord, her prayers for family and friends and for her unwavering faith. She was a “prayer warrior” for many people. Her main desire in life was to show people God's Love. Mom and Grandma was greeted in Heaven by her two sons, Donny and Daniel and by her grandson, Steven. We know today they are rejoicing on streets of gold. Rosie is survived by her husband; daughters: Jean, Barbara and Alicia Bearcrane, Linda (Wes) Couture and Earline (Cletus) Cole and a son, Joseph Dean; sisters, Faith Faraway, Karen Austin, Darlene and Warlene Faraway, Colleen and Lynn Laforge, Angie Whiteman, Georgiann and Joanie Pease; brothers, Wayne and Gerald Pease. Rosie comes from a very large extended family and many close friends, too many to list. We deeply apologize that we cannot list them all. Although our hearts are broken, we Rejoice knowing Grandma is dancing with Jesus and we will see her again.

Rosie was an amazing women, I loved her dearly, my heart hurts for all her loved ones. She always greeted me with a hug and told me she loved me. I still have the quilt she blessed me with for my baby, she was so happy for me, he is now 18 years old. I will always cherish it and our time we saw and visited each other...I love you always and forever kaala Rosie❤️

Rosie was a positive influence in many students' lives throughout our area. She could find amazing, creative & rewarding ways to teach students with difficult problems. My family loved visiting with Rosie & her family to learn their history and traditions. Rosie was truly an amazing woman and it is an honor to have known her. We have been blessed. Just saw this about Rosie, as I'm out of town right now. What a dear, precious woman of God! I first recall her in the days at Garfield, the way in which she loved her students, and how she demonstrated that love to all around her! My husband Bill and I treasured knowing her then, (as well as the Bearcrane family), and seeing her now and then in the years that have followed.
