James “Jim” O'Neil Nelson, 56, passed away Sunday May 5, 2019 in his home. Jim was born in Bakersfield, CA to Hilda Luttrall and Jord Oscar Nelson on January 29th, 1963. He grew up in Bakersfield with his mother and four siblings. There, he spent his time riding around on motorcycles and playing in bands with friends, hobbies which he took enjoyment out of the rest of his life. In 1991 he had his first son, Shayden. He then made the decision to move his family to Wallace, ID to work in the mines due to the little demand for tile. In 1994, he welcomed his other son, Brandon, into the world. In 2001, he moved to Columbus, MT, after mining he began setting tile once again, a trade he learned when he was 17 years old. Throughout the years he enjoyed motorcycles, music and bulldogs. Without looking back to California as he found his home in Montana. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, father and siblings, Jackie Nelson, Mike Thompson and Jon Nelson. He is survived by his mother, Hilda Thompson (Luttrall) of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Danny Thompson of Bakersfield, CA; sons, Shayden (Ashley) Nelson and Brandon Nelson (Irene Tenney) of Billings, MT; and one granddaughter, Ayla Nelson. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 9 at Dahl Funeral Chapel with a gathering after the service to be announced.

Jimmy and I, along with Mark Hannah, Eddie Enderle and Dirk Arnold created the band, Viper. We played tons of gigs in Bakersfield and Oildale. We practiced 6 nights a week and that band rocked. Lots of memories. I will miss my friend... and I pray he is the hands of the Lord. See ya later, bud.

Jim was a lovely man. He felt emotions deeply. I miss him and the world has been deprived of him. That is a dishonor to eveything existing.

My condolences to the family of James Nelson. We can always rely on our Heavenly Father, Jehovah, to help us when we experience the devastating loss of a dear loved one. (Psalm 34:18,19). Jehovah has given us the wonderful assurance that we can see our loved ones again by means of a resurrection.
