Frederick Killsnight,

Frederick C. Killsnight, Jr., of Pryor, MT, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Billings St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by his family. Freddy was born March 29, 1971, in Billings. His Indian name “Great Elk” (iichiilikaash baatchaache) was given to him by his late grandfather, Vincent Goes Ahead, Sr. He is the son of Richard and Wyma (Goes Ahead) Little Light. He was a member of the Mountain Crow Worship Center in Pryor, Ties the Bundle Clan and a child of the Big Lodge Clan and a descendent of Chief Plenty Coups. Freddy was raised in Billings in his youth, lived in Crow Agency for awhile and eventually moved to Pryor where he was presently residing. In Billings he attended Highland Elementary School and Lewis and Clark Middle School, went to Hardin High School in his junior year, where he was a member of the State champion cross country team, and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1989. While attending Senior High, Freddy was a Knights of Columbus wrestling champion and held the 1 mile track record under 5 minutes for 5 years. He was an avid softball player starting with T-ball to minor and major leagues in Billings and was a member of the Goes Ahead Pretty softball team. He enjoyed sports and was a Plenty Coups Warrior basketball fan and loved to watch his nephews and nieces play ball. Freddy was a firefighter during the summer months. He was employed at Plenty Coups high School and St Charles Mission in the maintenance, janitorial and food service departments. In the past he had various jobs in Billings and with the Crow Tribe. He also had a tire repair shop at his home. Freddy loved to cook and work with horses. Freddy is survived by his parents and his sisters, Brandi and Cherith Little Light; adopted brothers, Elsworth, George, William and Julian Goes Ahead, Zachery Goes Ahead, Brandon Covers Up, and Nehemiah Little Light; his maternal aunts, Karen and Beulah Goes Ahead, Mary (Todd) Volk, Natalie Little Owl and Irma Jane Bird Hat; maternal uncles, Marlan (Thelma) and Vincent, Jr. (Abigail) Goes Ahead, Benjamin Cloud, and Richard (Holly) Furber; paternal aunts, Victoria Brown, Shirley Bad Bear, Rosella (Isaac) Shane, Una Little Light, Vina (Richard) White, Vickie Holds and Roseanne Killsnight; paternal uncles, Henry (Mary) Little Light, Ernest, Jr. (Jane) and Aloysius (Cleone) Holds; grandparents, Agnes (Larry) Pretty Weasel, Regina Goes Ahead and Charlene Laverdure; special friends, Gary & Kevin Big Man, Calvin Brush, Howard Round Face and Chan Whiteman; and other cousins, aunts and uncles too numerous to name. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vincent and Melda (Cloud) Goes Ahead, Sr., sister, Melda Little Light and cousins, Isaac and Falon Goes Ahead. Freddy's extended family include the Goes Ahead, De Crane, Killsnight, Cloud, Stops, Whiteman, Turnsplenty, Morrison, Old Horn, Hugs, Big Lake, Plainbull, Lionshows, Rock Above, Jefferson, Charges Strong-Wilson, Wall, Big Hail, Old Crane, House, Big Medicine, Plainfeather, Dust, Stands, Little Owl, Bright Wings, Horse, Leider, Long Ears, Smart Enemy, Old Elk and Bird Hat. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 6, at St. Charles Mission in Pryor at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Goes Ahead Cemetery.
