Obituary
Melody (Sherman) Reighard passed away on February 24, 2019 at Avantara Care Facility in Billings, MT. Melody was born on January 11, 1957 to Marie (Schneider) and Edmund Sherman at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. She was the youngest of seven children and was much loved and cared for by all. Mel graduated in 1975 from Billings Central Catholic High School and attended college in Billings and Great Falls, MT. She married Tracy Reighard and resided in Helena, MT until a severe car accident took Tracy's life. Mel was also injured in the accident and was left unable to do anything without help. Even through her disability Mel remained friendly and had a smile for everyone. She loved all pets, especially her dog, Zoe. Melody enjoyed watching gymnastics and anything that starred Tom Selleck. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tracy; and brothers, Bruce and Jim. Mel is survived by her brothers, Ed, Joe and Harry; sister, Judy; and nine nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses at Avantara for taking such good care of Mel. Melody was loved by many and will be missed. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Mary Queen of Peace/Little Flower Church.

I will miss Melody a lot, although we lost touch with each other over the years -- we were close cousins growing up as children even though we lived in different states. I remember how happy she was at her wedding to Tracy (I was in the wedding party). She was a beautiful person, inside and out. My heart and prayers go out to my Sherman cousins who loved her too and feel as sad as I do at her passing. I think her dad (my Uncle Ed) is hugging and holding her right now in heaven.

I had the pleasure of being Melody's nurse at the home for several years. She was such a ray of sunshine everyday. If you were ever having a bad day she would brighten it with her smile and laughter. She truly will be missed daily. Sending much love to her family. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to take care of her and to get to know her family as well. We love you Mel. xoxo Jen Kruse
