Obituary
Steve (71) passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 in ICU at the hospital in Billings, MT. Steve had been ill for some time, due to 2 tours served in Vietnam in the Navy. Steve & his wife Diann recently moved to Roberts, MT, to join their son Steven who retired from the Navy July 2018 and moved to Joliet, MT. Steve was born to Leslie J. & Doris Ozburn April 18, 1947 in Soda Springs, ID. He lived with his family on the farm; then they moved to the ranch at Stevensville, MT. They then moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID then back to Soda Springs. He also lived in Wyoming and California. Steve graduated from high school in Sheridan, WY. After his 2 tours in Vietnam he married Linda Arnell. They had 2 sons: Steven & Tyrell. They divorced and later Steve married his present wife Diann. Steve went to work for FMC in Pocatello, ID where he retired FMC in 2001 when they closed down. Steve loved fishing and hunting and was good at both. Steve and part of his family had been deer hunting just a few days before he ended up in the hospital. They all got their deer. Steve was a member of the Dodge National Finals Rodeo in Pocatello for 36 years. He held several Director Positions. The Stock Crew was his favorite. He put his sister Janet to work with him for 27 years. Steve was also an excellent dancer, as were both of his parents. He seldom lacked for a dance partner. He was very popular. Steve is survived by his wife Diann; sons Steven & Tyrell; sisters Janet (Vic) Baker, Rupert, Roxanne Mussulman (Poc.); nieces Janene Taylor & Tara Mussulman; nephew Bill Waters; four stepchildren & their spouses and their children. He has 1 grandaughter, 4 step grandsons and 4 step granddaughters that he thought of as his own. He was preceded in death by his parents and both sets of grandparents. There will be no service at this time as Steve chose cremation. In June 2019, those who can “ride” the mountains he loved are welcome to join us. When the riders come back down, a Dutch Oven dinner will be provided and a celebration of Steve's life. Steve often prepared a delicious Dutch Oven dinner for family and friends. I had known Steve for at least a decade. He was the sort of man upon whom you could depend especially if things became difficult. He was an outdoors man, a Navy Veteran of Vietnam and avid hunter. Steve was always honest with me, to include his faults and efforts to correct them. He held his family in very high esteem and talked about them often. God speed Steve. Bart Emigh

when I first me steve 6 years ago he let me know how he felt about them Damn Californians and long hair And I was both After hunting and fishing together He started coming around a bit still reminding me how he felt about them Damn Californians and long hair. Steve even worked for me when I needed a loader operator we stayed in his trailer on the out of town jobs and he was a great cook but made lousy coffee and I made it clear every time he made the coffee, We became good friends over that time I think of you daily and will always have a seat open for you my friend. My dear "little" brother I miss you soooo very much. There were times when you could be a real pain in the back side but I would take those times in a minute. You told me "no tears" sorry but I have cried buckets. We have had a lot of times to remember: gathering cattle as kids, many hunting, fishing & camping trips. Many adventures while you were in the Navy, Whew!! I am proud of the man you became. I am glad you are out of all the pain & now with our Lord. Your sister, Janet

I knew little about Steve, he knew less about me Not many got close, how he wanted it to be cowboys saw glory at the labors of old Steve they bet everything they had on the stock they’d receive He was the guy in the back making it happen for crowds dangerous hard work that would make anyone proud Steve was more than the man he was expected to be He was a leader of men, give credit to old Steve With all his faults he kept a promise for me It was just between us, of things that would be held close to the vest, right up to the end it would cost us a lot, my forever friend. That was the last, between old Steve and I Thanks, you old Vet you did me right When we tribute your service each 4th of July May your spirit ride high from Soda to Pokey and on to Big Sky
