John Murray,

John H. Murray, Jr. passed away in Billings, MT on October 9, 2017 due to complications from a fall at home in Cody, WY. He was born on March 27, 1944 in Leavenworth, KS to John and Dorothy Murray. John was a proud United States Marine. He was a Peace Corps volunteer, science teacher, artist, entrepreneur, patriot, outdoorsman, published author, public servant and world traveler. John enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter, fly-fisherman and conservationist. He was an avid supporter of the local arts in Cody and was a fundraiser for local causes. His hobbies included fiction writing, custom hunting knife making and traveling with Liz. John retired from the Bureau of Land Management in Cody, WY after 24 years a Geologist. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz”; son, Edward; grandchildren, Addisen and Bode; and brother, Richard. To those who knew him, John will be remembered as a true gentleman, a faithful and loving family man, a kind and light-hearted friend, honest mentor and the worst horseshoe player in hunt camp. A private service will be held in the spring of 2018.
