Maxine Barndt Dolan

Maxine Louise Barndt Dolan passed away on February 14, 2017. She was born on December 3, 1922 to Arthur Horsewood and Hazel Jane Bobo Horsewood at the family home on the Columbus/Joliet road. She graduated from Columbus High School and then graduated from Montana Normal School with a 2-yr teaching degree and started teaching grade school until she met and married Homer Barndt on December 6, 1946. They made their home at the family ranch until Homer passed away on January 18, 1961. Homer and Maxine adopted 2 children during their marriage, Gary Wayne Barndt and Jeanne Marie Barndt. After Homer's death, the family moved to Columbus, where she worked in the school lunch room and continued her education at Eastern Montana College. She would then get a teaching job in Absarokee, teaching 2nd grade until she retired in 1982. On December 19, 1979, Maxine married Roger G. Dolan and lived on Roger's farm until his death on August 19, 1986, at which time she moved to Columbus. In the fall of 2003, she moved to Billings and spent her remaining years following her grandchildren's activities. She loved going to basketball games and spending time with her family and friends. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Horsewood and Hazel Bobo Horsewood, her husbands, Homer Barndt and Roger Dolan, her sister Betty Eaton Ranney, and her brother Charles Webster. Maxine is survived by her son, Gary (Chris) Barndt and their 7 children Sarah (Zach) Bauer, Rebekah (Brian) Strum, Philip, Joel, Caleb, Nathan, and Elizabeth; her daughter, Jeanne Barndt and her son, Damian Barndt; and her numerous great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
