Stanley Marchinek

The Lord called Stanley home on February 1, 2017 with his wife (Marilyn) and his fur baby (Angel) at his side. Stanley was born April 10, 1933 in Thunderhawk, SD to Fredrick and Mary (Kasparek {Kasper}); he joined his sister Betty. At the age of two the family moved to the Glasgow area so his dad could work on the Ft. Peck Dam. Stan said they lived in a cold "paper Shack" in the "free lots”. His schooling was in Glasgow. As a young boy, he worked on the Railroads "Kids Gang". He served in the Army and Reserves from 1951 to 1959. Then he worked for the Valley County on the road crew building roads in the nice weather and plowing snow in the winter from Glasgow to Frazier to Ophiem, MT. He came to Billings and was owner of Stan's Grocery Store until 1970 when he went to work for Valley Health Care as the Maintenance Supervisor. He retired from Valley in 1998 after 28 years. Stan married Marilyn Thompson in 1994. They lived in Park City, MT until 2010 when they moved to Billings. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and daughter Karen Sue; step-daughters Diana Obelenus and Mary Lynn. He is survived by his wife; daughter Ann (Ken) Martin of Florence, MT; step-daughter Darla (Gary) Pettet of Raleigh, NC; a granddaughter, five step-grandsons, 9 step-great-grandchildren, and two due in the spring; and his little dog Angel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, February 7th at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at First Alliance Church. Interment will be in Mountview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Stan's name to the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, 1735 Monad, Billings, MT 59101.
