Dearerst Lois: How very very sad we are to hear of our dear friends passing. A great one has been in our presence and we are all better people because we were friend to Ken Schroeder! Had not heard of this sad sad event until yesterday >>>>Marla Sande sent us an e-mail telling Ken had passed away. The friendship made between us was so genuine and so enjoyable. We enjoyed his humor---his intellect---his knowledge of what needed to be done. We applaud his ongoing efforts with Cecil Harris. Getting Highway 20 named after Cecil. The giant sign at the entrance to Cresbard and the final triumph of the grand statue of Cecil on the NSU campus. All of that was directly upon Ken's undying dedication to an unselfish mission!!! Mary Ann and I send our heartfelt Love and Condolences to you and family. Love from j&m 1

Rest in peace, my friend and fellow veteran of the Navy and the Calvary Lutheran Choir. One day, we'll pick up that last conversation right where we left off.

Schroeder family: I was at Huron College from 1956 to 1960, and Kenny came there halfway through my tenure. He was a wonderful guy! My fondest memory of him came when we performed the musical "Oklahoma!" one of those years. He played poor Jud Frye, who lived in the smokehouse. Ever since when I have seen that show, I have always compared any Jud Frye portrayer to Kenny, and none have ever been able to match his performance way back then. He was smart insightful, caring. I so wish I had known he was living in Rapid City because I have been here since 2004 and had no idea he was here. I would have loved to visit with him and renew our long-lost friendship. My sympathy and best wishes to all of you.

Ken will be surely missed in our commercial and military pilot community.. He was a leader among leaders. Ken originated the annual airport staff appreciation party as a tribute to their efforts in helping Rapid City airline commuters to get to work at distant airports - there were 50 plus of us. Ken and Lois were always special in those gatherings and the many chance meetings. He "has slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-golden wings" and left us many treasured moments. Jim McCann , USAF and American Airlines
