Donna Seader Giesick

On July 25, 2015 we lost our hero, and the world is without an amazing woman. Donna Seader was born January 21, 1945 in Hardin to Conrad and Katherine Seader. She attended school in Hardin, graduating high school in 1963. Upon completing high school she enrolled at Hollywood Beauty College. After graduating, and with only $300, she opened her own salon in 1965, Chateau de Hair Fashions. This remained open for 12 years, pioneering some practices that are being used in Montana to this day. In the fall of 1970, Donna's mother rented an apartment to a man, Dennis, which would change her life forever. They became friends through chance meetings in the buildings parking lot. From their late night rendezvous, and ski trips to Red Lodge Mountain, they grew to love one another and on June 28, 1974 they were united in marriage. They knew they would have a wild ride, because at their wedding reception a streaker showed up. Donna was always a little boy crazy. In 1975 they welcomed Eric Adam into the world, followed by Joshua Conrad in 1976, and Shawn Christopher in 1979. She wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, and sold her business in 1977. She was always involved in her children's lives from soccer, cub scouts, wrestling, football, basketball, and band concerts, and sometimes, according to her children, a little too much. After the boys reached a certain age, she went to work in the Special Education classes at her boys' elementary school, Miles Avenue. And just like anything she did in life, she did it well and earned the respect of her colleagues. Through a teacher, Sharon Tuhy, she met a woman who would change her and the community's life forever, Jani McCall. Jani was the executive director of Youth Dynamics. Through YDI, Dennis and Donna became therapeutic foster parents changing countless children's lives forever. Her true passion in this field was taking young men's troubled lives, and showing them a brighter future. For the next 25 years, Dennis and Donna opened their home to over 50 troubled boys. She still kept in contact with many, but 2 remained closest to her heart, Travis and Kasey. This past fall she was able to see the outcome of her hard work and was able to experience Kasey starting his own family. She was excited to learn after his marriage to Brianna, they would be giving her another grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Adam (Soni) Seader, niece Carol Seader, nephew Larry Seader. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dennis. Her sons Eric Adam (Amanda), Joshua Conrad, Shawn Christopher, Kasey (Brianna), and Travis; a daughter Patti Fink; her sister Dorothy (Al) Mayer, and her very special nieces Connie Spillman and Kathy Thiel. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren, and countless friends. She also leaves behind a life-long friend, who was like a sister to her from early childhood, Sharon Kukes Day. For her love of animals, please make any donation to Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. A Celebration of Donna's life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. To represent her positive outlook on life, please wear her favorite color, blue, to the service.
