Marian Sundell

Marian Sundell, 89, of Billings, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2015. Marian was born February 14, 1926, in Wolf Point, Montana, the daughter of Henry and Rekka Fredrickson. She came to Billings in 1947. It was here where she met her future husband, Leonard Sundell. Leonard and Marian were married and lived happily together for 65 years in Billings, spending many winters in Green Valley, Arizona. Marian was greatly loved by her family and friends. All who knew her will greatly miss her qualities of giving, loving, and caring for others. She was always able to see the best in everyone. She was active in many community groups including being a charter member of both Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd as well as Billings Opti-Mrs. Club, a member of Chapter AE PEO and her Bridge Club. She was a source of unconditional support to Leonard and made all of his goals in life her goals as well. Friends and neighbors will fondly remember her outgoing nature and friendly smile. Mom was a great hostess and welcomed numerous friends to her home. She set a beautiful table and filled it with friends and her delicious food. Her secret to a great dinner party was her careful list-making. She began days ahead, organizing her menu, shopping, and setting the table. Every minute was carefully planned-out ahead, so she could enjoy visiting with her guests when they arrived. She was the “hostess with the mostest.” Survivors include her husband, Leonard Sundell, her son Drew (Anny) Sundell, her daughter Julie (Del) Hopewell, her three grandchildren Jessica (David) Wheeler, Ryan Hopewell, and Leah (David) Swalley, her sister-in-law Shirley Fredrickson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was so proud to also welcome her first great-grandchild, Adalie Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rae Overs, and her brother Richard Fredrickson. Cremation has taken place at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice.
