Kaneeta will be missed. She reached both ways in that she had one hand on the ancient tradition and one hand onto the modern world. She aspired to do well in the modern world and succeeded. In her passing she has escaped the wasting away of old age. She overcame her heart problems and kept scrambling. When I reflect on all of the great qualities of the Crow, I think of Kanetta. When Kevin was painting his early scenes, I thought that I could see Kaneeta in some of them. Surely, if a great mural were to be painted of the crow people who were true to the tribe, Kaneeta would have a prominent place. Your rest is well deserved, great lady. Nev Harding

After my son Jason 'Jazman' died from injuries sustained in a car accident a number of years back. I had so much pain and anguish and did not know what to do. I remember I went to see Kaneeta out at the Prior Museum and she walked with me and we stopped at the sacred place of prayer tree. I made my offering for prayer and she silently stood by me knowing that this is what I needed. While I cried and prayed so hard she stood by and I know she was praying just as hard with me as our please for healing and our tears fell to the ground I found a little comfort that I had been searching for. Iwill forever love her for this. She showed me such compassion and a safe place and in a way to help me find some peace through spirituality after such a heart wrenching loss for me. Thank you Kaneeta for being there for me you will be forever in my heart. Ah ho

Kaneeta Red Star was a beautiful and elegant woman. I always admired her style and attitude. She was always positive and caring. I am so sorry to hear that a car accident has taken yet another valuable life before its time - her family must be devastated to lose her. My heart goes out to Dooni and Tate and the rest of the amazing Red Star family.

I knew Kaneeta for a little over a year and she was a special lady for me and for many, many others as I have learned from the vigil service tonite. I will miss her dearly and send prayers and healing to her family and friends.
