Obituary
Pearl Theresa Kunda Nolan died peacefully early Monday morning October 20th. Pearl was born on December 31, 1937 to Harry & Bernadine Kunda in Polson, MT. After raising 6 children, she worked and received her teaching degree. She taught Music, Art, and English in many reservation schools throughout Montana. Her faith kept her young and active in the church for many years. She loved traveling and taking her grandchildren and great grandchildren on trips to see God's many wonders. Pearl also loved working with her hands crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting, drawing, various crafts and writing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elizabeth Schaeffer, her brother Raphael Kunda and her son James Nolan. Surviving Pearl is her sister Anglie (Norman) Kruckenberg, brother Michael (Rena) Kunda and sister Anne (Donald) Stewart. Missing her will be her children Robert Nolan, Beth Lawyer (Arthur Wise), Beverly (Sheridan) Wise, Veronica Nolan, Becky Murrell and Larry (Butch) Nolan Jr. Pearl's surviving grandchildren are Jerry (Stephanie) Westrom; Heather & Caleb Wise; Rachael & Matyea Nolan and Jen Larson; Jacob, Courtney & Ryan Nolan. Pearl's surviving great grandchildren are Alyona, Jessica and Leroy Westrom; Karik Wise; and Aden Schunk. Rosary will be held Friday October 24th at 7:00 pm at Little Flower Church. The Memorial Mass will be on Saturday October 25th at 10:00 am at Little Flower Church. Memorials can be sent to Mary Queen of Peace Church, 210 S. 34th, Billings, MT 59101.

I had the pleasure of working with Pearl at Lame Deer, some years ago. She was a cheerful, willing worker and I smile just thinking of her. One story that comes to mind, is that she saw some people knocking on my door in teacher housing from her window (during the school day)...hurried to my room to take over my job for a few minutes, so that I could go tend to business. It turned out to be Jehovah Witnesses....not an emergency or important business.....but we had a good laugh and that was just the way she was...always willing to help and thinking of others. My prayers to the family. I know that she is in a better place, and will be missed.

I first met Pearl when we were both teaching aides at Billings Senior High. This was my first job in a teaching capacity and Pearl took me under her wings and taught me the ropes. She left to become a teacher at St Labre where I came to visit her one day and she inspired me to look for a job in Lame Deer. Well, I got the job and guess who was also teaching there, Pearl! We had some great times for the next two years teaching together. Thank you Pearl for being my inspiration and mentor. You will be missed by so many.

I am so sorry to hear of Cousin Pearl's passing. I had not seen her for many years, but I remember spending time at her house when we lived in Billings. My thought and prayers go out to all her family in this time of sadness. She will forever be happy in the house of the Lord. Kathleen (Ley) Corbin
