Marriett Tarbet Daines

Marriett Tarbet Daines was born April 24, 1918 to Nephi and Julia Tarbet in Smithfield, Utah. She was the 10th of 13 children. She passed away peacefully May 18, 2014 at Tendernest. She grew up in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School. She married Weston Ray Daines on January 3, 1937. They had three children Clair, Tom and Marilyn. Marriett loved beautiful clothes and jewelry. She was Mrs. Montana 1954. She worked for Sukins Clothing, Dr. Frye and LuEv's dress shop. Her basement was once a haven to her granddaughters Christine, Susan and Shelly, who would spend hours playing dress up with all of her vintage dresses and jewelry. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, an accomplished horsewoman, enjoyed gardening, cooking, hosting parties and outdoor adventures with Westy and all the kids. She is survived by her son Clair (Sharon) Daines, daughter Marilyn Daines, grandchildren Steve (Cindy) Daines, Christie( Rob) Piacesi, Shelly Ness and Jeremy Ness and “Greats” David, Annie, Michael and Caroline Daines, John, Peter, Julianna and Christina Owenhouse, John Daubert and Maria Piacesi. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Weston, son Tommy, granddaughter Susan (Jay) Owenhouse, brothers James, Edson, Hyler, Ralph, George, Dee and Wendell and sisters Florence and Venna. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her long time physician Neal Sorensen, and the staff of Tendernest and Rocky Mountain Hospice. Cremation has taken place and a family service is planned June14th in Smithfield, Utah.
