Obituary
Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend, Esther Pauline (Kahler) Kreiter-Spiers, after many physical and medical hardships, has gone to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 30, 2014. Esther was born June 17, 1925 on a small homestead farm near the township of Pettibone, North Dakota to Fred and Louise (Heimbuck) Kahler. Shortly thereafter the family moved to a farm near Sykeston, North Dakota where she did her schooling and met her future husband Harold Kreiter. After her marriage to Harold they eventually moved to Billings, Montana where Esther and Harold were active in both Saint Thomas and Saint Pius X Catholic Churches and Harold built his business, Harold's Upholstery, which to this day is still an iconic business in Billings. After Harold's passing in 1973, Esther became a realtor in the Billings community as well as an owner of several properties. In 1987 she married Glen Spiers but sadly that all ended the same year when Glen passed away due to a tragic accident. After 20 years in real estate, Esther entered into partial retirement and worked part time at Harold's Upholstery, which was and still is owned and operated by a family member. In 2007, Esther fully retired. Esther dearly loved having social gatherings at her home and was especially fond of the Bridge Club members whom she got to know well. She was an avid Bingo player as well. As time went by, Esther started having physical and medical problems which slowed her down a bit but she fought strong and hard through them all until her heart could go no further. She was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Louise Kahler, both husbands, Harold Kreiter and Glen Spiers, two brothers, Harold and Jimmy Kahler, three sisters, Lucille Childs, Delores Massick, and Virginia Hutchison. Survivors are her brother Harry (Lee) Kahler, of Mesa, Arizona, two daughters, Cheryl McLaughlin of Billings, Montana and Sandi Erickson of St. Paul, Minnesota, three sons, David (Sandra) Kreiter, Kent (Lisa) Kreiter and Randy Kreiter, all of Billings, Montana. Esther has a brother-in-law, John Massick, presently residing at West Park Village, Billings, Montana. She has been blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. A Memo From “Mom”.. Thank You to all my wonderful children for all of your love, care, and support since the passing of your father. A heart strong farewell to you all. I love you so much and am so proud of you and all of your amazing accomplishments. And thank you for all my lovely grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. Service: Viewing will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a vigil service following the viewing on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with inurnment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Esther, I have known you for an all too short of a time, but in that too short of a wonderful time span, which evolved into having contact with you and your immediate family members on a virtual everyday basis, you and I formed a special close knit bond. I shall always cherish that bond and the now wonderful memories that were formed in that all too short of a time being around you, and I am already missing you so very much. Esther, you possessed within your kind and generous heart certain qualities that many of us shall cherish and miss dearly. You had pride in your collection of "Angel" figurines and now I know why...you were and are now, an angel, a special entity destined to do good work for and with our Lord Jesus Christ. I am so very proud to have shared a valuable time with you, albeit too short. I am honored to have been able to be with you right to the time when Jesus came to gather you in His arms and relieve you of your pain and anguish. Thank You from the bottom of my heart and may God always Bless you and your new existence.

Cheryl, Sandi, David, Kent, and Randy - Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. Most of my memories of her are from childhood, but the Vegas reunion she put together for all of us several years ago is still one of the best. Your Mom was a wonderful person - I'm sure you know that - and the light on Earth will be just a little less bright with her gone. Take comfort in all the great times you had together.

I bid a sad but fond farewell to a beautiful soul and a remarkable lady. Aunt Esther was one of my favorite people, and my memories of her go back to Rose Circle in Murray, Utah, where Cheryl and I terrorized the neighborhood. Of all her many qualities, I will especially miss her grace, her dignity, and that winning smile.
