Obituary
Cal awoke every morning eager to take on the challenges of the day. With a type 'A' personality, he took on these challenges with the spirit of a warrior. He was fearless with a gentleness and a kindness that is greatly cherished and will be greatly missed. His strength always made those in presence feel safe and protected. Angels came September 8, 2013 to take Calvin Scott Stringfield, 53, to our heavenly father. He died at his home in Columbus, Montana. Cal was born on August 13, 1960 to Hugh and Dorothy Stringfield in Eugene, Oregon. He was raised and educated in many cities throughout the Pacific Northwest and Colorado. Starting in his youth, Cal embraced physical challenges, running his first marathon at age 11 (26.2 miles). Throughout high school, Cal was involved in cross country, football and baseball. He attended University of Idaho, University of Nevada and graduated college from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communications. He went into sales for the bulk of his career, finishing in pharmaceuticals. He recently switched gears for a more physically demanding career in the construction field and loved and embraced the new challenge. Cal's devotion to excellence was second to none, and was born early in his life from sun up to sun down, working the agricultural fields in Idaho. Cal enjoyed outdoor challenges as well, which grew into a lifelong passion. He has enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, skiing, whitewater rafting and many other outdoor activities to the extreme. He enjoyed caring for and riding his horses through the beautiful Montana wilderness. He was survived by his father, Hugh W. Stringfield of Nampa, ID; his daughter, Kari D. Stringfield of Billings, MT; his brothers, Stanley H. Stringfield of Sidney, MT and Samuel J. Stringfield of Fruitland, ID and his nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy D. Stringfield and his grandparents, Kenneth and Claire Stringfield of Caldwell, ID, H.C and Florence Dillard of Tooele, UT. Service: Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings MT.

Cal has been my friend for 20 years, our friendship has stood the test of time, what a great person. I will remember him always and I feel so lucky to have him in my life, I am blessed for that. My prayers to all of his family.

Two peas in a Pod. I will always love and miss you.There are many more paths,rivers,hikes,ski trails,stars to watch,horses to ride and conversations to share. My sincere condolences on Cal's passing. I remember him fondly both at work and socially. He shared many humorous and interesting stories of his adventures of hunting and fishing. Cal always spoke fondly of his daughter Kari. My thoughts are with Cal's family.

I am saddened to hear of Cal's passing. I worked with him several years ago, when he was in the food business. I will remember Cal as a independent energetic fun person to be around. He had a huge heart and a great spirit. May he rest in peace.

We were saddened to hear of Cal's passing. We met him years ago when our son John Hill was stationed in the AF in MT and they were friends. He was such a dear person who was kind to us. Our hearts go out to his daughter and his family. Love and prayers.
