Clinton Weldon

Beloved father, grandfather, great (great) grandfather, brother, and friend to many, Clinton Ray Weldon, 93, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at Billings Health and Rehabilitation on January 31st, 2013. The fourth of seven children, Clint was born during a late snow storm on March 7th, 1919 to Orville and Elizabeth (Pfaff) Weldon. Working and playing alongside his brothers and sisters, Clint spent his childhood on the family ranch and dairy on Blue Creek, south of Billings. Walking “up hill (both ways) in knee deep snow”, he attended Basin Creek School. He graduated from Billings High School, and began working at Farmer's Union Oil Company, where he stayed until 1941. While there, he married Dorothy Stup, and from this union came two sons. After Pearl Harbor, Clint traveled to New Mexico and Texas with a construction company building air bases. Called to the armed forces in 1944, he proudly served our country with the United States Air Force as a gunnery instructor. His marriage to Dorothy ended and he drove truck until 1948, when he returned to the family ranch. Shortly after, Clint married Margaret “Maggie” Kister and inherited another son. From this union came two more sons and a daughter. Throughout their marriage, Clint and Maggie owned and managed several truck stops and gas stations around town. He continued driving truck until his retirement at the age of 70, during which he thoroughly enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends, reminiscing about the good ol' days. Clint was preceded in death by his parents; sister Hazel (died in infancy); brothers George, Ben, and Charles; beloved wife Maggie; sons Ronnie, Gary, Mike “Punk”, and Clinton Jr. “Corky”; and grandchildren Wade and Kristi. He is survived by one brother, Richard (Monica) Weldon, and two sisters, Maeona Smith and Delores Propp, all of Billings; one daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” (Bill) Lackman of Billings; one son, Gordon (Janie) Weldon of Colorado Springs, CO;10 grandchildren, Amanda (Funny Face), Carrie Ann, Danielle, Mike, Jason, Lori, Mark, Ronnie, Gordie, and K.C; several great (great) grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who all love him very much. You were our rock and our hero. While you will be immensely missed, we rejoice in knowing that you have been reunited with your beloved Maggie and your sons, whom you have missed for so long. We love you very much. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Billings Health and Rehabilitation for the companionship and tender loving care they extended to “Papa”; especially Megan, Mark, Lisa, Deb, and Jennifer. Service: Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 6th, 11 a.m., at Dahl's Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave in Billings. A light luncheon will follow. Full military honors will then take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
