Obituary
Eagle River resident Kathryn Glenn, MA, LPC, 54, died of natural causes on Saturday May 5, 2012 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. She was surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. on December 24, 1957. She spent her career as a Mental Health counselor, first in Bill¬ings, Montana, then Barrow, then Anchorage. She studied hard and received her Master's in Counseling Psychology from Chapman University. She also had 80 hours in coursework towards a doctorate from Pacific Graduate School of Psy¬chology. Her specialty was child and family therapy and she loved working with her 'kiddos,' as she called them. Her effervescent personality and deep empathy touched and helped heal her patients. Those same qualities endeared her to her many friends and family. Kathryn was a great animal lover. She rescued dogs, cats, and even toads over the years. She also enjoyed owning birds, and spent years presiding over her 'menagerie.' Her generosity was not limited to caring for animals. She was a loving and gener¬ous person who delighted in giving presents. Even when she was feeling very ill, she reached out to help others. She also loved antiques and never tired of shopping for new treasures. They 'broke the mold' when they made Kathryn. She was a true individual, one-of-a-kind. She will be deeply missed by the children she treated, their parents, and most of all her family. She is survived by her father, Guy Glenn; sisters, Carolyn Glenn Walker (Dave) and Cynthia Glenn; and nieces/nephew Emily Walker, Lindsey Walker, and Daniel Walker Service: Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Private family burial of ashes.

Dear Guy and family, I am looking at Kathy's obituary and thinking the picture of her must have been taken at Playa del Carmen. I saw her have her picture taken with her little "friend" while we were on the beath. I am so very sorry for your loss. Kathy became a dear friend to me and Chris. Really went out of her way to make sure we had a good time...and that we didn't get lost. :-) My heart and sympathy goes out to all of you.

Dear Dr. Glenn, I had met Kathy in Vail when we were both in high school. We spent a fair amount of time together, and then reconnected when I moved to Denver in 1983 to do my internship and residency. I hadn't really had contact with her after she moved back to Montana. Since I was in Billings, I thought I'd Google her and was shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. My condolences to you and your family. Best regards, Gary Kay

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Glenn, I was Kathryn's friend at Chapman University - she was pursuing her Masters in Psych Counseling and I was pursuing my MBA. We lost touch, and I tried to "find" her for many years. Now, after many years of looking for Kathryn, to come across her Obituary makes me feel very sad. Please accept my sincere condolences! I remember her fondly - her exuberance, her generous nature, her unconditional friendship through my years at Chapman. She attended my wedding, and my husband and I remember her well. Kathryn was a longtime friend from her Northern CA. days. We met at a wedding of a mutual friend and we became immediate friends. She moved to Alaska and I moved to Colorado but we always kept in touch. Mostly by long telephone calls and yearly Christmas Cards. She will be missed.
