James William Harris, Senior, 81, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at his home.James was born on February 24, 1929 to William Harris and Clara Winfrey Harris in Atlanta, Georgia.As a youngster, James was able to complete his high school education and then went on to become a self-employed carpenter. His claim to fame was that he helped to build many of the skyscrapers in the city of Chicago.James was preceded in death by three siblings: Charles Harris, Watt Harris, Rubie Harris Bailey; son Jerry D. Harris; granddaughter Tatiana N.B. Harris; and great-grandson Jaylun D. Harris. He leaves to cherish his memories his brother Alvin Harris of Atlanta, GA; six children: Irwin Harris of Billings, James. W. Harris, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Todd (April) M. Harris, Sr. of Billings, Katrina Jo (Teddy) Harris Randolph of Dallas, TX, Brian C. Harris, Sr. of Chicago, IL, and Erica Blackwell of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren: Cameo L. Harris, Antoinette R. Phillips, Tedeisha R. Randolph, Jamie L. Harris, Stephen R. Randolph, Jasmine D. Harris, Todd M. Harris, Jr., Katrina Laura Randolph, Jordan S. Harris, Michael P. Harris, Brian C. Harris, Jr., Brianna Harris; great-grandchildren: Antoine L. Phillips, Destiny King, Derrick Phillips, and Jayla M. Harris-Dedeaux.James was a loving man and made everyone feel important. He had a lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with. He loved the Lord and was not ashamed to speak about it. He was our daddy, granddaddy and our friend and we are truly blessed to have known this great man. He never said good-bye, it was always so long.Vigil Service will be held Thursday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Mountview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to James W. My condolences to the Harris family. I had the honor of meeting James well before Todd became my son's basketball coach. I am a nurse at Eagle Cliff Manor and took care of James. We had some nice conversations about family and the Harris name that we share. I know that he loved his family and loved God. I was so excited when he got to move out on his own. My prayers to you as you celebrate his life. God is Good.

Having had the pleasure of knowing James I can honestly say he was one of the few truly decent persons I have ever met. The world is worse off for his leaving but heaven is a brighter spot indeed. So long James.
