Carol Engle

July 12, 1971 - May 18, 2025

Obituary

Born: July 12, 1971 – Riverton, Wyoming
Passed Away: May 18, 2025 – Billings, Montana

With profound sadness but deep gratitude for the life she lived, we announce the passing of Carol Lynn Engle, who went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 18, 2025. She was surrounded by family, embraced in love, and comforted by her unwavering faith.

Carol was the cherished daughter of Karl and Donna Hunt of Sheridan, Wyoming, and the beloved sister of David (Debbie), John (Kelli), and Jeffrey (Kim). She grew up surrounded by the loving—and teasing—energy of her brothers, a bond always filled with laughter. She was also blessed with a wonderful extended family, including her mother-in-law Betty Jean Norregaard, father-in-law Elton Engle, stepmother-in-law Dee Engle, and brothers-in-law Neil (Elena) Engle and Eric (Kassy) Engle.

On January 14, 2000, Carol married her best friend and love, Justin “Tak” Engle, in Las Vegas, where they began their life together before settling in Montana. Their marriage was rooted in love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they cared for their beloved dogs—at one point, eight cherished companions.

Carol graduated from Sheridan High School in 1989 as co-valedictorian and a state champion in tennis doubles. She then earned her business degree from the University of Wyoming before pursuing her master's degree in Physical Therapy at University of Iowa.

For 24 years, Carol dedicated herself to St. Vincent’s Outpatient Clinic, specializing in vestibular balance as a Physical Therapist. Her expertise and compassion helped countless patients regain stability and confidence, leaving a lasting impact in her field.

Carol embraced life fully, with a deep love for the mountains. She found joy in riding motorcycles through the Big Horn Mountains, camping and fishing in their beauty, and playing the violin with passion. She was an animal lover to the core, cherishing her daily walks with her Saint Bernard herd.

One of Carol’s greatest desires was to see her friends have and develop a relationship with Jesus. She shared Jesus with most people she met, always offering kindness, encouragement, and faith.

Carol had an amazing heart and a smile known by anyone who had the blessing of meeting her. Her kindness and joy were infectious, radiating warmth to all who knew her.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 20th, at the Bethesda Worship Center in Sheridan, WY. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.

Carol will forever be remembered for her passion for life, her devotion to family and friends, and the faith that carried her through every challenge with grace.

A live stream will be available for those unable to attend, with the link pasted here: https://shorturl.at/Kbsr4

I was heartbroken to see that Carol had passed away. My husband, Harlan Mauch, was a stroke rehab patient of Carol’s and the two of them “bonded” Immediately. We found out that Carol lived near us and became good friends also. Carol would visit us at home, and even after my husband passed away, Carol always kept in touch with me. She was a “bright shining star” and will be missed by so very many people.

Carol was such a professional and gave everything she had to her patients. She shared all the knowledge she possessed with colleagues and took extra time to answer questions or share resources. She always had a smile on her face--even when you knew she wasn't feeling so great. The world lost a great one in Carol Engle. I know her faith was part of why she was so strong and I picture her happy in heaven with those that went before. No more health struggles to deal with--at last. My condolences to family and close friends. I can only image how much loss you feel if I feel what I feel as a fairly distant professional friend

Carol was so much fun to be around. Whether she was teasing trying to talk like she was from New York, sharing stories about her experiences and giant dogs, going all in on her awesome Halloween costumes, or just laughing about life, her personality just drew you in. It's fitting that we celebrate her life on the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year celbrating a life that brought so much light and warmth to everyone she touched.

I met Carol at UW. We were both huge Barbara Mandrell fans. We went to her in concert in Cheyenne with front row seats! Carol with her bubbly personality caught Mandrell’s attention and st one point she had a conversation with her during the concert. Carol’s kindness and bubbly personality made us automatic friends. Such a wonderful personality. Heaven gained an angel. Miss her! ❤️
