Obituary
Jacqueline May “Jackie” Randall lived a life full of love, quiet heroism, and boundless creativity.
Jackie was a 1957 Sheridan, WY high school graduate. After earning her education degree from the University of Wyoming, Jackie taught 7th grade in Newcastle, Wyoming. Though she had the gentleness for kindergartners, she handled the challenges of teaching teens with grace and heart. She also spent years caring for her grandmother – another testament to how family always came first.
Jackie’s life had many chapters. She worked in the fabric department at Woolworths and later built a career with Mountain Bell - rising from telephone operator to working on the telecom networking team. She wasn’t without a mischievous streak: quietly slipping into jail to bail out a cousin or two, channeling her inner gangster to keep someone from deeper trouble.
Jackie’s creativity was unmatched. A talented seamstress, she made legendary Halloween costumes - especially the traditional India outfits that nearly won the town parade (we still think they deserved first place over the Wizard of Oz crew!). She lit up Crazy Days in Sheridan with inventive getups, and she had a gift for turning everyday events into unforgettable memories.
Her presents were always magical: a handmade dollhouse for Lyndsay, Star Wars adventures for Mike, a one-of-a-kind monster kitty for Kelsey. She passed on her love for stories - introducing us to Nancy Drew, The Babysitters Club, and every spooky tale she could find. Movie nights with Jackie weren’t just for fun - they were a masterclass in imagination and connection.
She found joy in camping trips with her sister Sharon at Dead Swede, surrounded by laughter and the peace of nature. Jackie lived a life rich in connection, adventure, and generosity - a quiet hero who left behind a tremendous legacy.
Jackie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Twila and Steven Owen; niece Lyndsay and her husband Jesse Brown; great-nieces Emma, Elizabeth, and Evelyn; nephew Michael Mercury; niece Kelsey Dexter; great-nephew Ryker; and great-niece Scarlett.
