Obituary

LeRoy Francis Schouviller, OFS

Born the fifth child of John E. (Ed) and Helen (Eisenbarth) Schouviller on Sunday, November 28, 1937, at the family home in Glencoe, MN, was known to many as "Lee". He was called to eternal rest on July 4, 2025, at his home in Huntley, MT.

He lived his "dash" with gusto and enthusiasm for his faith, family and friends. Travel was a life-long passion which led to a career as a Transportation Sales Agent with Northwest Orient Airlines. The best part of his job: "telling people where to go".

His "been there" list includes locations on five continents and many tropical islands. With Gail, his love of nearly 63 years, they shared sunrises and sunsets in thousands of places utilizing every mode of transportation available.

Lee was a chronicler, keeping meticulous records of all their adventures and a genealogist, leaving us a treasury of our ancestry. A call from Uncle Sam in 1960 to the US Army was the detour that brought he and Gail Flynn together in San Antonio, TX.

Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Roland, Delores, Donald and Vernon, two nieces and an infant granddaughter.

Survived by his wife, daughter Cynthia (Allen) Rice, son Lawrence (Tanya) Schouviller, his grandchildren: Michael (Amanda) Rice, Kathryn (Timothy) Dommer, Susan (Alexander) Anderson, Michelle (KeShawn) Lipscomb, George (Mary) Ruce, Anne Rice, thirteen great-grandchildren: siblings Kenneth (Sheila) Schouviller, Doryce Helmer, Lynda (James) Hanvik and fifteen nieces and nephews. The great "grands" were his joy, always doting on and interacting with them; he taught them chess, to lick the ice-cream bowl, and to know they are loved.

Lee passionately shared Jesus with all he met. Cursillo and the San Damiano Secular Franciscan order were catalysts for self-education and spiritual growth which overflowed to all.  Vigil services Monday, July 14, 6pm with funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 15, 9am, St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Billings, MT. The rite of burial immediately following in the Huntley cemetery.

His wonderful smile and joyfulness was incredible. We so enjoyed the after Mass diners with Lee and Gail every Saturday night. He will be missed.
