Chylo LaPier

It is with the utmost sadness that our families announce the unexpected passing of Chylo Lee LaPier at home in Billings, MT. On August 15, 2025, at the age of 45, God took home another angel. Throughout her life, Chylo loved her pets as if they were family. She was an amazing person who loved to serve and help people.

Chylo was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1980, in Billings, MT to Kristy LaPier and was the older sister to Samantha Johnson.

She was a high school graduate of CMR in Great Falls, MT. After graduation, she enlisted in the Navy and was medically discharged. She studied Psychology at MSU Billings. She also studied at Nashville State Community College in Tennessee and took online courses at Ashford University.

Chylo was previously married and divorced, working for several years in the trucking industry during this time.

She eventually moved to Billings where she met the love of her life, Chad Jones and were together for almost 14 years until the time of her passing.

Chylo’s most notable employment included Montana Community Services Inc. where she worked and ultimately became group home manager. She also had a passion for helping children which led her to work at New Day Ranch, Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, and most recently as a Special Needs Assistant in the Special Education Department at Castle Rock Middle School, where her students rewarded her with a sense of joy and gratification.

Chylo was an avid reader, excellent cook and had a love for the outdoors (Camping, hunting, skiing, etc.). She was also a sports fan which included the Dallas Cowboys, UM Grizzlies, Colorado Avalanche, and racing.

Chylo was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edward Matte, grandmother, Elaine LaPier, other extended family and many well-loved pets.

She is survived by her husband Chad Jones of Billings and their beloved family pets, mother Kristy LaPier, sister Samanatha Johnson, stepfather Clyde Edwards and other extended family. She is also survived by father and mother-in-law Wayne (Tina) Jones, brother and sisters-in-law Chris (Kylie) Jones, Karinda Jones, Chanda Jones, grandmother-in-law Shirley Jones, 13 nieces and nephews, great niece and other extended family.

We are all blessed and better for having known Chylo. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Dahl Funeral Chapel – 10 Yellowstone Avenue, Billings, with a reception following at 1:00 pm at the Elks Lodge – 2413 Montana Avenue, Billings.
