Larry and I were friends in Great Falls growing up and college roommates at UM We reconnected in later years and attended some Griz games and hung out on the Flathead. It's been clearly an honor to call him my friend.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Larry's death. I first met him at UM and was so impressed with him as a person and his role as a Griz football player. Knowing him as I did I enjoyed seeing him and catching up at the Griz football games where he sat some rows below my and my wife's seats. I never missed the opportunity to visit with him. I, too, moved to Billings this last year with my wife Judy and, as I have been a supporter of the Griz since getting out of the Army in 1968, I was overjoyed at learning Larry lived here in Billings when I attended the first meeting of the local Griz Scholarship Association last April. He was there again this Spring as the planning for this year's event occurred. Since we did not stay in contact during the off season I was looking forward to seeing him at the first game this year which occurred just this last weekend and will be donating to UM Football in his name. Larry was my brother-in-law for many years and during that time I learned of his kind heart sense of adventure and dedication to his family. He was a Grizz fan through and through! May you rest in peace❤️Debbie Davis

Mitch, Heather and family🙏So sorry for the loss of a very special person. Larry was one of a kind with a good heart and giving sole. He had a great smile and was very much used by him. I remember meeting Larry in Helena when we were all playing softball. He was a big hitter and the team always used him as a clean up man😂. I can still see him run the bases with his very smooth run. Great guy in so many ways. He will be missed by a lot of people. This Bobcat fan will remember him in great admiration . Rip Larry Petty 🙏🙏🙏❤️🌹
