Mom and I had the gift of gab. On my many visits to her house in the last 20 years, we would often sit at the table over coffee and talk until it was 2:00 am in the morning (next day)! I'm going to greatly miss our ongoing dialogue about life, people, loved ones and passion. She was my rock, my inspiration. We butted heads occassionally but that was because we were so alike. I know that the day will come when we're reunited and we'll be able to continue our dialogue without skipping a beat. I love you, Mom and miss you dearly.

"Hello, Mother." "Hello, Father." That was my introduction to Kaye. She and Kelly greeted each other on the phone, and right away, I understood the origins of Kelly's humor and wit. I am so grateful I was able to meet her, laugh with her, and spend a bit of time with her, albeit way too brief. What I do know is that I will continue to get to know her through Kelly and Natalie, two people who embody so many of the qualities they profoundly respected and loved about her. Her strength, her humor, her work ethic, her intelligence, her kindness, and her generosity. Thank you for bringing these people into the world, Kaye.

The Martin-Suhr was one of my favorite places to be as a kid. Hanging out with my best friend and plotting which older brother we’d beg to give us a ride to the mall (they always demanded gas money). Kaye (I remember her as Colleen) always had good snacks in the kitchen…Natalie and I made the best nachos ever. Kaye let us hang out at the Slumber Mill, and she gave me one of my first real jobs at the Number Mill, where I made awesome egg salad and collected quarters. Kaye even helped me find a place to stay when I moved to DC (was it her cousin’s house?). What a strong, creative, smart, generous woman. RIP, Colleen.
