Obituary
Patrick “Pat” Peter Petrino, 77, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship, and service.
Pat was born on January 18, 1948, in Butte, Montana, to Vincent and Ceil Petrino. He grew up alongside his twin brother, Michael Petrino, and his older brother, Robert “Putter” Petrino.
He graduated from Boys Central Catholic High School in 1966 and went on to earn a degree in Education from Carroll College in 1970. On July 18, 1970, he married the love of his life, Connie Mazzola, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 55 years.
Pat dedicated 37 years to education as a teacher and coach, positively impacting countless students and athletes. He served at Bozeman Rosary, Billings Central Catholic High School, and Glasgow High School, coaching football, basketball, track, and golf throughout his career. His coaching accomplishments included Glasgow football state championships as an assistant coach in 1976, 1980, and 1983. In 1986, he served as head coach for the Glasgow Scotties Football Championship team and was honored as MHSA Coach of the Year. He also coached in multiple East–West Shrine Games and the Montana Class B All-Star Game.
His passion for sports extended far beyond the field. Pat loved golf, playing cards with friends, watching games, and enthusiastically joining any sports bracket he could find.
Above all, Pat was the biggest fan of his family. He faithfully followed every family member’s professional, athletic, and coaching pursuits and was always cheering them on. While he deeply loved his wife and children, his greatest pride and joy were his eight grandchildren. He was most proud of their accomplishments in academics and extracurricular activities.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Ceil Petrino; his twin brother, Michael Petrino; and his older brother, Robert “Putter” Petrino.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Petrino; his children, Shannon (Brian) Harlan, Patrick (Laurie) Petrino, and Joseph (Kristy) Petrino; and his grandchildren, Blake Harlan, Madison Petrino, Sophia Petrino, Brandon Petrino, Brennan Harlan, William Petrino, Hailey Petrino, and Jackson Petrino. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Pat was actively involved in his Catholic parishes throughout his life and volunteered generously. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, living his faith through service to others.
Funeral Service will be January 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Billings, Montana. A Celebration of Life and reception will follow in the church gathering area.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Right at Home Care Facility and Stillwater Hospice for the care and compassion Pat received.
In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Billings Catholic Schools Foundation.
Though deeply missed, Pat leaves us with comfort in knowing his suffering has ended and that he now rests in eternal peace.
