Rita Stovall

Obituary

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Rita Fenton Stovall, entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of November 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. Rita was born on February 16, 1948, in Billings, Montana, to Robert C. and Vurpel M. Fenton. She grew up in Lockwood alongside her younger siblings, Bob and Becky, in a warm and loving home. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1966, and soon after began working at Benson Optical.

In 1968, Rita married Lamont “Monty” Wallis, and together they welcomed two sons, Vincent and Grant. Rita taught her children to have faith in God, to find joy and laughter in everyday life, to value family deeply, and to be kind—lessons she lived out daily in her gracious and gentle way with others.
In 1996, Rita married Gregory Stovall, and she lovingly embraced the growing blended family with daughters Amy, Kally, and Lacey, and son Chuck. Over the years, Rita was richly blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was always there for her family—whether to help with babysitting, school pickups, a listening ear, or simply wise, loving counsel.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her entire world, and her devotion to them was unwavering. Rita also had a deep love for her animals, especially her cat Missy and her loyal dog Jasper, who were constant companions and added joy and comfort to her daily life. Rita had a heart that knew no limits. She was kind, dependable, warm, joyful, and endlessly giving. She never hesitated to help those in need and made every person feel seen and loved. Her passing leaves a deep and quiet ache within us, yet we remain profoundly grateful to have known and loved such a remarkable woman.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her stepson Chuck, and several aunts, uncles, and extended family members. She is survived by her loving husband Greg; her children and their families: Vince (Ronna) Wallis, Zach (Shawna) Adalyn, Austin (Val) Rowin, Westin, Sydney (Brandon) Bragg, Briar; Grant (Tara) Wallis, Nolan, Maddison; Amy(Mike) Fornshell, Kamy (Joe) Miller, Ezra, Clara, Charly (Kris) Bermes, Braelynn, Madison, Acadius Stone; Payten Donley, Marie (Lawrence) Stovall -Bork, DezMarie, Destiny, Charlize, Alex, Olivia; Kally Stovall, Bowen, Alayna, Dean, Jace Amundsen; Lacey Stovall; brother Bob (Pam) Fenton and family, sister Becky (Cal) Boehm and family, Kerri (Rick) Gallegos, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many cherished friends she made throughout her 77 years.

The family is large, if we left anyone out, we apologize. We love you and miss you beyond words, Grandma Rita. We take comfort in knowing you are now held in the eternal embrace of Jesus and reunited with those you love in Heaven. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 14th, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel at noon, per her wish to be laid to rest near her father. Please join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
