Manuel Montez

Manuel Montez, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 97.

Manuel was born on October 25, 1928, in Billings, Montana, to Antonio Montez and Juanita (Mota) Montez. He was raised in Billings, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and love for the outdoors.

On September 11, 1949, Manuel married the love of his life, Mary (Vega) Montez, in Billings. Together, they shared many years of marriage, creating a strong and loving family. One of Manuel’s greatest joys was the cabin at Cooney that he and Mary built with their own hands—a place filled with memories of fishing, camping, and time spent with those he loved most.

Manuel will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Juanita Montez, and seven siblings. Also awaiting him in heaven is his beloved chihuahua, Quito.

He is survived by his children: daughters Belen (Iszzy) and Gloria (Frank), and sons Tony (Linda), Steve (Alma), and Robert. He is also survived by his sisters Alberta, Becky, and Liz, as well as 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Manuel’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.
