Carolyn Cook

Carolyn Kindsvater Cook passed away early on the morning of May 31, 2026, at 102 years of age.

Carolyn was born in Laurel, Montana, on February 9, 1924. She was the second to last child born of the seven children of Jacob and Elizabeth Kindsvater. Carolyn attended Elder Grove Grammar School and Billings Senior High in their inaugural class. After graduating from high school in 1942, Carolyn was employed in the Billings area.

Carolyn met and married Henry Cook in 1947, at the age of 22. They enjoyed 25 years together, primarily ranching with John and Angelica Cook, first in St. Xavier and then Bridger, Montana on the Cook Brothers Ranch. After her husband’s passing, Carolyn had a lengthy career working for Billings School District from which she was able to retire. In her later years, she lived in St. Johns Retirement Home where she was well cared for.

Carolyn is preceded in death by husband Henry, sisters Angelica Cook, Emma Bernhardt, Otillie Shipp, and Lydia Kinsfather and brothers Jacob, Henry, and Richard, and her grandson Zachariah Joki (Denver). She is survived by her daughters Vicki Archer (Billings)and Joanne Joki (Tennessee) and her son Steven Cook (Billings) and their spouses Brian Archer, Mark Joki, and Rose Cook. She is also survived by her grandsons Jacob Archer (Phoenix) and his wife Janelle and Sam Roundface (Billings), her niece Rita Price and great niece Tanya Price (Texas). Carolyn will be missed by all who knew her.
