Michael Helmey

Michael Allen Helmey, age 60, of Billings, MT passed away on April 23, 2026 unexpectedly at home. Mike was born on April 12, 1966 in Billings, MT at St. Vincent Hospital to James and Veda Helmey. He attended Miles Ave Elementary, Lewis and Clark Junior High, and graduated from Billings West High in 1984. Mike married Lori Ann Rogers on July 22, 1989. They lived in Portland, OR from 1988-1991, then returned to Billings. Together they created a life in Billings, becoming deeply connected to the community. They had two children, a son, Brandon in 1995, and a daughter, Danielle in 1998.

Mike worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at Billings Airport for the past 12 years, prior to that working at WMK and Sweetheart Bakery. He was greatly respected for his reliability and punctuality. When the children were young, he enjoyed camping and spending quality time outdoors. He loved all of his dogs dearly over the years.

Mike took great pride in his pool skills and was known for his competitiveness. He had a deep passion for golf and found joy both in the game itself and in the time spent with friends and family on the course. His humor was effortless, and he had a way of turning ordinary moments into something memorable, making him the life of the party wherever he went. Mike will be remembered for the smiles and stories he brought to those around him.

He is survived by his spouse, Lori Helmey, his son Brandon Helmey, daughter Danielle Helmey (Kelly), sister Cindy Keener and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, all grandparents, brothers Lynn and Dennis and brother in law Gary Keener. A celebration of life will be held in his honor on May 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Columbia Club in Billings, MT.
