Obituary

Angel David Madera was born in Butte, Montana to Dave Madera and Josephine Brown on December 12, 1977. He spent his early years in Butte as a basketball star which made him very proud. He was an enrolled Spokane tribal member and also had roots on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, where he later relocated with his grandmother Ester Bigby Brown Dumont at the age of 18. He often referred to Ester as his mother, who taught him how to cook, and with whom he cut star quilt pieces, amongst many other shared activities.

He met his wife, Carolyn Plumage, in Fort Belknap, and gained a bonus child he loved and raised as his own. They later brought two beautiful children into this world who he referred to as his pride and joys and the only good thing he did in this world. Cooking for his family and friends was truly his love language and brought him immense joy. He often dreamed of opening a food truck.

Throughout his life he did various jobs such as wildland firefighting, custodial work, head cook, construction, Amazon delivery, and finally working for a moving company that took him all over the country.

In his later years, his grandchildren brought him a new season in life. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible and loved watching them grow. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and humility. He was never one to take things personally and his greatest asset was being a humble and patient man. His laugh was contagious, and his sense of humor unmatched.

He is preceded in death by Ester Brown Bigby Dumont, Peewee Bigby, Steve Bigby, James Brown, and his beloved greyhound.

He is survived by his children David (Shelby) Madera, Etcibetat (Amber) Madera, Frances Plumage, Grandchildren Calliope Madera, August Madera, Bennett Madera, Rylee Grove, Cash Grove, Walker Grove, Evelyn Door, Josephine Door, Clyde Door, his fur baby Kimber, his parents Dave Madera and Josephine Brown, as well as numerous siblings and nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Our loving father, gone too soon from this world, will be greatly missed and was truly loved by many. He is now at peace.
