Gary Dean Strander was born on September 14, 1956, in Billings, Montana. He passed away on August 14, 2026, in Billings, Montana, at the age of 69. Gary was born to James Roland Strander and Marcella Louise Strander (Falk). He attended Highland Elementary, Bitterroot Elementary, and Lincoln High School.

On November 5, 1989, Gary married Loralie Hamitt in Pocatello, Idaho. Gary worked as a drywall installer and had his own business. He also worked as a truck driver and in the North Dakota oil fields. He loved hunting and fishing, and faithfully attended A.A. meetings.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lorali, grandparents Anton and Helga (Gutterson) Strander, and Carl and Mary (Briese) Falk. He is survived by his mother, Marcella Strander, stepdaughter Rhiannon Tuller, brother Ronald Lee Strander, aunts Vallis Garceau and Dolly Siedschlah, and uncles Rodger Strander and Emery Strander.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings, Montana.

Gary married my Cousin Lorali. When we got together it was always a fun time and I can still remember his laugh and smile, he had a great sense of humor. When ever anyone needed help Gary was always willing to help. He loved hunting and fishing and would share his story when he caught a nice fish or just had a good day. I will always be able to remember our camping trips and the holidays we got to spend with Gary and Lorali.

Gary was always easy to laugh and a fun person to be around. He was always kind and loving to my mother, Dorthy Kinney. We enjoyed hearing his stories about his hunting and fishing trips. We were happy to have Gary in our family. We was loving and loyal to my cousin, Lorali Hammettt. When they married, he accepted her daughter, Rhiannon, as his own daughter. They had a tight bond and love for each other. Gary will be missed.
