Obituary
Germaine Mae (Mattern) (Sengar) Riesinger, age 79, peacefully passed away into the arms of the Lord on October 9, 2026. She was born July 29, 1947, in Bismarck ND to Isabel and Felix Mattern.
Germaine was a woman of deep Catholic faith, hard work and love for her family. She was a dedicated member of St. Pius X church. She truly enjoyed giving back to the community, helping whenever needed.
For many years, Germaine poured her heart into the family-owned restaurant, Elmers Pancake House, where she welcomed the community with a warm smile. She later brought her dedication to Wells Fargo, where she worked until her retirement.
Germaine married her first husband, John Sengar, on May 4, 1968, and together they welcomed three children. Over more than 50 years of marriage, they shared a life full of action and adventure until John’s passing in 2018.
Years later, faith brought two souls together who found love and companionship. Germaine and Robert (Bob) Riesinger were married on June 20, 2020. Together, they embraced their golden years, sharing the love of travel and spending their winters snow birding in Arizona.
Germaine joyfully checked many dreams off her bucket list, such as seeing Niagara Falls and a trip to Italy where she visited the Vatican, a true testament to her faith.
She cherished her church groups, water aerobics classes and the friendships made there. She enjoyed time at the casino, whether she was winning or just having fun. “Bet max” was her motto.
Family was her greatest joy. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate them. Sunday dinners, sporting events, holidays and her signature birthday cards with “hot” $20 bills.
Germaine is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Riesinger; her children, Sandy (Rob) Morse, John Sengar Jr and Janine (Ed) Samuel; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren along with her sisters Janice Krueger; Elaine (Cliff) Danielson; Karen (Joe) Marcotte and brother, Brian (Rachel) Mattern.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Sengar; her grandson, Josh; her brother, Les and brother-in-law Erick.
Gigi, we love you, we miss you, we will see you again.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Germaine’s honor to St. Pius X Catholic Church or a charity of your choosing. To celebrate Germaine, please wear something with her favorite color red.
