Nancy Besel

Obituary

Nancy Kay Besel entered eternal life on October 31, 2026 after a short battle with brain cancer. She was 67 years old.

Nancy was born October 7, 1959 in Helena, MT and adopted by Dallas and Verna Van Delinder. She grew up in Billings, MT along with brothers Curt and Steve.

She graduated from West High School and attended Eastern Montana College.

Set up on a blind date by mutual friends, she met then married Randolph (Randy) Besel on May 8, 1982. Unable to have children on their own, Nancy and Randy adopted two wonderful boys, David and Jonathan. When David came along, Nancy quit her job as office worker at Cereal Food Processors and became a stay at home mom and loved it. She had the privilege to help her children grow up by being so involved in their lives from volunteering in the classroom to reading and doing art projects at home.

Nancy's life was complete when she became a grandmother for the first time in 2022 when Violet was born to son David and his wife Morgan. The only problem was they were in Indianapolis, IN, way to far for a casual visit. So Nancy and Randy moved to Indianapolis in 2025. Since then a second grandchild, Jack was born in July 2026.

Those two grandchildren were the most precious of all the people who were precious to her.

Since Randy's retirement, Nancy and Randy have enjoyed some traveling. She also enjoyed creating scrapbooks with friends of travels, and especially of her family. She loved to cook and try out the newest kitchen gadget.

She and Randy were members at Mt Olive Lutheran Church since they first met until they moved to Indianapolis where they joined Epiphany Lutheran Church. She loved her church family, bible studies and worship. God graced her with a very strong faith which she reflected to others throughout her life showing love, compassion, caring, humbleness and self sacrifice to all she met. It was in that faith she died and was taken to her reward in heaven. She will be deeply missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents and brother Curt and his wife Sheri. She is survived by her husband Randy, sons David (Morgan) and Jon, brother Steve (Kim), grandchildren Violet and Jack, and a niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Mt Olive Lutheran Church, Billings, MT on Monday November 9th with interment to follow then a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt Olive Lutheran Church Billings, MT or Epiphany Lutheran Church Westfield, IN.
