Obituary
Violet Cooke, 84, passed away peacefully May 27, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side after a long battle with COPD. She was born on June 13, 1925 to Antone & Mary Pirtz in Roundup, Montana. At the age of 11 they moved to Billings where she attended Billings Schools. She worked at McKesson/Robbins and later married Lowell Cooke on December 8, 1950 in Billings. Together they owned and operated a small grocery store. They had three children and she became a fulltime homemaker. Her hobbies included cooking and reading. She lived for her kids, grandkids and great-grandson. Violet was a member of Little Flower Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell, brothers Matt Pirtz, Frank “Tiny” Pirtz, Anthony “Tony” Pirtz and Joseph Pirtz. She is survived by her son, Lowell (Beth) Cooke; daughters Norma (Joe) Moore and Leanne Beatty; sister Mary “Mitzi” Hartman, granddaughters Ashley (Mick) Goff, Erin Cooke, Hannah Beatty, grandson Austin Beatty and great-grandson Brock Goff and many nephews and nieces.Violets Vigil service is at Dahl Chapel 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010. Memorial Mass is at Little Flower Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Committal of ashes will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.Donations may be made to Little Flower Church, 3411, 3rd Ave. So., Billings, Mt. 59101. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel. This comment is for Ashley. Ashley, I always remember how much you talked about your "hip" grandma, how you enjoyed shopping etc., when we visited at St. Johns. Sorry to read of her passing. I will miss seeing her at church with Frank and Mitzi. This will make a double whammy for Mitzi, first Frank and now her sister. Remember the good times. Kristi

Dear Lowell, Beth, Norma, Leanne, Ashley, and Erin, We are truly sorry for your loss. Take comfort in knowing that Violet's motherly and grandmotherly love is truly unique and special and will stay with you for the rest of your lives.
