Norma Crtalic

Norma Lee Crtalic, 84, of Red Lodge, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010, with family members by her side. Norma was born in Red Lodge, Montana, February 2, 1926, to Leland and Margaret (Bailey) Newman. She grew up in Red Lodge and after graduating from high school, attended the nursing program at Carroll College in Helena. She completed her nurses training at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana, graduated in 1946 and began her nursing career. On October 6, 1947, Norma married Bill Crtalic, the love of her life. In 1952, Bill and Norma moved to California, where they raised their five children. Norma developed a true passion for nursing while working in the nursery at Hawthorne Memorial Hospital, until she retired in 1984. In 1992, Bill and Norma moved back to Red Lodge. Norma was an avid reader and loved to work in her garden. She put others first and was always there to help and give advice. She never forgot her family and friends on special occasions, and holidays with her family were especially important to her. Normas most cherished moments were spent sitting next to Bill driving the back roads of Carbon County, enjoying the scenery and looking for wildlife. Survivors include her daughter Lynn Redman, son Don (Carla), daughter Lesly (Dave) Mroczkowski, son Doug, daughter Lori (James) Ugrin, brother Don Newman, brother-in-law Ed Crtalic, sister-in-law Berry Newman, grandchildren Nathan, Nolan, Will, Audrey and Michael, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son-in-law Phil Redman, brother Roger Newman, and sister-in-law Jackie Newman. A memorial service for Norma Lee will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Agnes Church in Red Lodge. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beartooth Hospital and Health Center, Special K Ranch or the charity of ones choice. Dahl Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
