Obituary
Leo Deichl, 71, lost his battle with cancer April 8, 2015 at his home in Billings with his wife, Joan, and many family members at his side. The 5th of 7 children, he was born to Frank and Clara Deichl February 27, 1944 in Billings where he was raised and graduated from Billings Central High School. In 1964 he was married to Diann Mueller and they had three children. He worked as an electrician until his medical retirement in 1984. He began a new chapter in his life when he married Joan Holter in 1988. Together they worked and played hard, sharing many adventures including fishing trips to Alaska, a summer cabin in Saskatchewan, Canada, a winter place in Arizona, near Lake Havasu, and managing rentals in Billings. For almost 28 years they were inseparable and he loved her above all else. Leo was a big man with a gentle heart, known as “the big teddy bear” to his sisters. Fishing and hunting were his passions. He looked forward to the annual fishing trips on the lake in Canada with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law and friend. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara and brother Andy. Leo is survived by his wife Joan, children Mark (Emily) Deichl, Paula (Josh) Jackson, and Susie (Bob)Lopez; step children, Richard (Jane) Simpson, Jim (Diane) Simpson, Caroline Stewart, and Felicia Stuart; Brothers, Arnold and Bob (Barb) Deichl; Sisters, Eleanor Livingston, Juanita Blee, and Veronica (Joe) Marson; grandchildren, Ciara Deichl, Stella & Hank Jackson, Nicole, David and John Deichl, Jamie (Angle) Stewart, George and Sevie Simpson, Rich and James Simpson Jr., and Mike Stuart; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Leo's life will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at St. Patrick Co-Cathedral. Our condolences to Leo's family and friends. We were not close in High School though did attend more than one 'party' together. He was an interesting guy. I remembered my former classmate at Mass earlier today.

The Family of Leo My name is Jerry Oakland and my wife Karen. We were friends of Leo and Diann years ago. We went fishing and I worked with Leo for many years.(electrician) I'll always think of him as a gentle giant and always fun to be around. I remember times we went to a cabin, before or close to Roberts. With all the kids and fun. It has been years since our paths crossed-that's life , things change but he will always be a friend. In closing Leo old pal. God has a call for a Master Electrician as tall as you are, you never needed a ladder. You were always faster than those short guys.
