Oliver Dickey

Oliver 'OB' Dickey passed away on March 15, 2014 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Roberta Busha and John Dickey March 30, 1927 in Hanna, Oklahoma. After moving to Montana with his family, as a small boy his family operated the ski lift and concession that is now Discovery ski area in Anaconda, Montana. He enlisted in the Navy for a 2 year tour during WWII during which time he was sent to work on submarines in Pearl Harbor. After returning to Montana, he met and married Elizabeth 'Betty' Feininger on May 2, 1947. OB is survived by children Cheryl Struthers (John) of Boise, ID, Mary Michelle Dickey of Vacaville, CA; brother K.E. 'Tiny' Dickey (Jackie) of Auburn, CA; grandchildren Todd Devore, Ronald Devore, Emily Struthers, Amanda Dion, Erin Dickey, John Dickey, Aaron Dickey; great-grandchildren Milo Devore and Dominic Dion; niece and nephew Barbara Lawrence and Steve Dickey. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Dickey, daughter Carol Devore and son Christopher Dickey. OB Dickey was an avid outdoorsman and his favorite times were spent up on the mountain with his son Chris. He was a long time member of the Billings Trap Club, Huntley Trap Club, and Billings Rod and Gun Club and was also a member of Elks Club, Legion Club and was a Shriner. He had an over 20 year career with MDU before dedicating his time fully to his own business, Billings Washer and Heating. Upon retirement, OB kept busy by mastering the craft of making knives and making shot to reload his own shotgun shells. OB made friends everywhere he went and could give anyone a hard time. One of the many things he looked forward to was going to Gusick's every Friday for fish with his buddies. He will be greatly missed by both his family and many friends. Vigil Services will be 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl Chapel. Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
