Theodore Dolney

Theodore “Ted” M. Dolney, 92, of Billings, passed away in RiverStone Hospice Home and went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Ted was born to Leo and Rose Dolney in Glenville, SD on August 24, 1921. He was raised in Glenville and enlisted in the US Army April 9, 1941. He was captured December 6, 1941 and remained a POW until June 1945. On October 2, 1945 he was honorably discharged. In 1954 Ted married Irene Schultz and they had three sons. She later passed away. On May 6, 1961 he married Darlene Thiel and they had a daughter. Ted owned the Homestead Café, while living in Ophiem, MT. He worked for Lower Yellowstone REA retiring in 1983. Ted loved spending time with his family and enjoyed gardening. Ted is preceded in death by his parents; first wife; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. He is survived by his wife Darlene, sons Gyle, Timothy and Lonnie Dolney; daughter Darla Miller; 2 sisters, 2 brothers; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. A family gathering service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18 at Dahl Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 25 Hilltop Rd in Billings Heights. Interment will be in Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery in Laurel.
