Obituary
Tracy Donovan, 59, of Billings, MT passed away January 29, 2015 in his home. He was born September 17, 1956, the third son of John and Mary Donovan. He grew up in Belt, MT and still has many childhood friends. Tracy married the love of his life, Pati Winterrowd. After she became ill he devoted his life to caring for her. She passed away one day after their 29th wedding anniversary. Tracy took great pride in being a union ironworker. He loved and had a deep respect for the men he worked with. Tracy enjoyed walks with his dog Toby, golfing, gambling, gardening and having in depth conversations with friends and family. He was a loyal friend, with a great sense of humor, amazing husband, hard worker and the best uncle and Dad in the world. Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; wife Pati; brother Tommy; mother-in-law Aucille; cats Man and Gizmo. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and Jessica; brother Tim; sisters-in-law Robin, Maricel, Vonnie and Karen; brother –in-law Roger; nieces and nephews, Justin, Kevin, Jackie, Rafferty, Brian (Brittany), Eric, Sean, Rodd (Christy), Tara, Kari, Jeff, Michael and Sean; son-in-law, Gavin; grandsons Cole and Christian; dog Toby, along with many wonderful friends. Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 7 at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave. Reception will follow at the Elks, 934 Lewis Ave.

As a former teacher of Tracy (John Donovan was my supervisor), I extend my sincere condolences. Tracy was in the seventh and eighth grades when I started my teaching career in Belt, a community of of which I am still very proud and fond. There had been a succession of six music teachers in the five preceeding years, and the seventh grade had been "tagged" to get this next music teacher. It was a game of adolescence, and it was a pretty even contest until the first Christmas concert Which went very well). I pretty much knew the game--How, you might ask?--suffice to say I'd been a seventh grader once myself and was no saint in my general music class either. In fact, when I applied for the job in August of 1968, I said to the then superintendent that "Justice would be served if I were to have to teach seventh and eighth graders." And Mr. Strouf said "We can arrange that."
Tracy and his class were as fun as they were challenging. I enjoyed them very much and in many ways they taught me as much or more than I taught them..

Daniel and Lois Wilkerson. So sorry to here of Tracy's passing. My best regards to the Donovan family. I grew up and lived next door to the Donovan's. My mother babysit Tracy a lot. The whole family were the best friends ever. A special greetings to Tim.

Hadn't seen Tracy since I was a child, but have a lot of memories of playing w/Tracy and David Rifle as a kid. Making "tents" by hanging blankets over the clothesline. We spent some time w/the Donovan's as John and my Dad were friends and worked together (John the principle and dad a teacher and BB/football/and track coach.) and Mary and Mom were good friends.
