Obituary

On Friday, September 21, 2018 Pat Dunn, 82, passed away after a ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Pat, eldest of four girls, was born May 20, 1936 to Darrell and Margaret Nieland in Breckenridge, MN. She married Thomas Patrick Dunn in Frazee, MN on November 24, 1952, where they started their family. In 1965 they moved to Billings, MT where they raised their 6 kids on Sunnyview Lane. Mom was always busy, cooking, baking, camping and fishing. She really enjoyed exercising and swimming at Rocky Mountain College pool. When the kids were all grown one of her passions was oil painting, and she was very good at it; she painted every day. Each one of us today, including her sisters, enjoys her beautiful work in our homes. For many years Mom hosted all the holiday gatherings; we will never forget her fabulous feasts. Pat is survived by her daughters, Kim (Jim) Cunningham of Billings and Cheryl (Tim) Fisher of Mount Vernon, WA; sons, Jim (Connie) Dunn of Broadview, MT, Steve (Kim) Dunn of Spokane, WA and Matt (Chris) Dunn of Billings; 13 grandkids and 18 great-grandkids; sisters, Jo (Denis) Weis of St. Cloud, MN, Peggy (Tom) Allegrezza of Boise, ID and Mary (Matt) Suchoci of Toms River, NJ; sisters-in-law, Ruthie (Gerry) Morrow of Apple Valley, MN and Jerilyn (Lloyd) of Frazee, MN; brother-in-law, Jack Medcalf of Coon Rapids, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat in 2011, son Tony in 2010 and sister-in-law Kathy Medcalf in 2013. A special thanks to all the caregivers who have taken care of Pat over the years and gave their moral support to get us all through her trying disease. RIP now Mom! A family memorial service will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Memorials can be made in Pat's name to Montana Alzheimer's Assoc, 3010 11 Ave N, Billings, MT 59101.

Pat sold Elna sewing machines and taught classes for us in the late 70’s at our sewing center. She was a excellent coworker and friend. Always a first class professional while also being warm, friendly and helpful to Ted and I and our customers. We were saddened when we heard of her illness and have thought of her many times over the years. Our condolences to you Kim and to all the family. God Bless you all in your time of grief. I am truly saddened to hear of Pat’s passing. I cared for her when she was in the Heights. She will always have a special place in my heart. I will remember all the story telling we had at the table after dinner. She had her feisty moments but her inner kindness would eventually come out and she would give a big smile and a hug or two. To the family may you mother, sister, aunt and grandmother R. I. P.

So sad to read about Pat's death. She was a beautiful, kind, gracious woman, someone you'd want in your life forever. The world was a better place with her in it. Prayers for comfort to all her family.

I am sorry that your mother passed away. It is really sad to see it was from Alzheimer's. I worked with her at the Elna shop. She had so much energy and was always pleasant. After that long battle she can now rest in peace. Marie Hailstone
