Obituary

Leonard Timothy Duray was born January 24, 1934 to Max and Lucy Duray in Greenbush, MN. In 1957 he moved to Wibaux, MT to work for his cousin Leo Miski on Leo's farm and ranch. In March of 1958 he was drafted by the United States Army with whom he served for 18 months then returned to Wibaux. Leonard moved to Billings, MT in 1961. He worked for Pierce Packing until the plant closed. After Pierce Packing closed, he operated a successful auto body repair business. In 1989, he began working for Billings Public Schools. He worked as the head custodian at the Lincoln Center until he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (council 1259) for 58 years. He was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Patrick's Parish, and a member of Big Sky Early Ford V8 RG#153. Leonard passed away peacefully Friday, April 28, 2017 surrounded by family. Leonard deeply touched many lives. He was a good and humble man who served his family, church, and community throughout his entire life. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sylvester; and sister, Margaret. Leonard is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of 54 years; daughter, Leigh Midboe (Leif), her sons, Phillip and Kevin; daughter, Lynn, her children, Wyatt, Eleanore, David and William; son, Lane (Kelly), his son Finnegan; son, Luke (Jessica), his daughters Lia, Isla and Jolee; sister, Phyllis (Chet); brother, Bruce (Bette); and many nieces, nephews, and grands. Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 5 pm – 6 pm with Vigil service to begin at 6 pm, both at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 8 at St. Patrick Co-Cathedral. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Billings Catholic Schools, RiverStone Hospice, or charity of donor's choice.
