William Egan

William “Bill” Egan, 77, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at his home in Billings, Montana. He was born February 6, 1933 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of James and Christina (Horsburgh) Egan. He grew up in Scotland and attended school there, graduating from the University of Edinburgh.Bill met Anne April Mitchell at the Palais Dance Hall in Edinburgh. They were united in marriage April 24, 1954. Their first two children, David and Avril, were born in Scotland. In 1957 they moved to Winnipeg, Canada where Bill ran the Eatons ad department until 1966. Their third child, Daniel was born in Winnipeg. Bill and Anne later divorced.Bill moved to Hollywood where he worked in the movie industry. He was a producer of the McCloud series and worked on The Virginian television series. Bill was mentored by Bill McDonald, Leslie Stevens and George Goebel.Bill moved to Billings in the 1980s to be close to family. One of his most proud accomplishments was when he achieved his US citizenship. He was a multi-talented artist, especially in painting, drawing and writing music. He invented and built a guitar called the Buffalo. Bill is survived by his son David (Valerie) Egan of Billings; granddaughters, Danielle and Gennivie; special friends, Gordon and Anne Bolte; numerous family members in Scotland including brother Chris (Ella), sister-in-law Carole; and his many friends in the Billings area. He was preceded in death by his brother George; son Daniel and daughter Avril.A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, May 8 at 2405 Sunnyview Lane from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel.
