Margaret Felt

Dolly was a creator—art, gardening, children. She was a true daughter of Billings. She was the youngest child in the family, born April 1,1922 to Marion Murray Movius and Arthur James Movius, a doctor and co-founder of the Billings Clinic. Dolly survived cancer and died of natural causes at home early in the morning of December 7, 2011. She was the last Movius of her generation. She attended Billings public schools as well as Mills College, MacMurray College and finally graduated from Eastern Montana College with a degree in art. She painted the portraits of Dr Movius and Dr Bridenbaugh that hang in the Billings Clinic. For years she had her horses: Apple Jack as a youngster, riding groups in college and Frey that she had later in life. She married George Henry Harber in 1942, a Navy pilot who died in July 1943. They had a daughter, Margaret, born after his death. She married James Rogers Felt beginning a long marriage adding six children, Candy, Mary, Amy, Michael, Rob & Doug. The marriage ended in divorce in 1969. During those years she was active as a volunteer, organizing balls and charity events for numerous organizations. Dolly was recognized as an accomplished artist and sculptor. She was proud of both her choice of Chief Plenty Coups as subject and the merit award she received in a national competition, Garden of the Patriots. One copy was on display in the lobby of the First National Bank while another is on permanent display at the Chief Plenty Coups memorial museum. She moved to Joliet for a period of years and created a nature preserve there with gardens of flowers and vegetables, ponds, wild ducks. She worked hard, “one shovel at a time”, as she would say. After moving to her home on Tree Lane she created a master garden that won the People's Award for the Master Gardeners in 2003. Her survivors include children Margaret Weissman (Jeff), Candace Bonawitz (Jack), Mary Dolan (Tom), Amy Mulhauser (Jerry), Michael Felt (Richelle), Rob Felt (Kristin) and Doug Felt (Martine). Her 22 grandchildren: Ian & Wynne McIntosh, David, Adam and Babbs Weissman, TJ & Kris Angstman, Joe Bonawitz, Shawna Ciccone, Heather Schwindt, Paul Dolan, Jennifer Bingham, Jessica Sellegren, Renee, Kelly & Roland Felt, Mackenzie & Michaela Felt, and Catherine Meyer, James, Victoria and Alexandra Felt. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren. She leaves her loving companion, a fluffy, white Pomeranian named Foxy.
