Obituary

How do we write an obituary today to honor and celebrate the life of our mother, wife and friend? Jeanne Marlene (Anseth) Fisher came into this world to Genevieve and Kay Anseth, May 20, 1937 in Williston ND, and joined her Maker May 15, 2019 with family by her side. Over the past few days, Jeanne has been called everything from a saint, to a trusted friend, a loving mother, grandmother and loving wife. But she was also so very smart, and obviously independent. After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN she and a friend stuck pins in a map to see where their first teaching job was going to be. They then headed to that spot on the map - Hanford CA. She returned to Sidney MT in 1961 where she met Larry Fisher, the love of her life. She was indeed a special person, and together they raised their children, Rhonda Reynolds and Rod Fisher. She loved to gather with family and especially her grandchildren, Courtney and Casey Reynolds, who were the light of her life. Larry, her husband of 55 years, was totally devoted to her in every sense of the word. A man who marveled at everything she said and everything she did. He danced with her for many many years, and then cared for her with the same energy as she battle through a life of diabetes and later heart problems and finally losing her sight. She showed up to life every day and that takes courage. She took her adversity and years of ill health and turned it into a journey full of prayer and faith. She was always on the prayer chains gifting prayers to those in need. If she were here today and speaking I think she would talk about her family, how grateful she was to her parents and to her sister, Kay Joyce, who lost her battle with diabetes in 1980. She'd also tell you how proud she was of Larry, and how deep their love was. She was a hero. She was numbers smart, she was tough, but also very compassionate. Driven to work hard, staying on the job through illness after illness, and long hours when needed but also really fun and funny always reaching out to friends with hand written notes and her yearly Christmas letters. We adored her and loved to be with her, she was our ultimate role model. She was indeed a tiny figure. But I'm sure everybody who knew her has a story about her, a story that would make you laugh, make you cry, a story that would make you roll your eyes. She was the real deal, a woman who would do anything for those who needed help and those she called family. She had a deep, deep faith in God, and was a woman who spent quality time with each and every one of us, making us feel loved. She spent quality time with her grandchildren, trips to Disneyland and weekends in Fairmont Hot Springs; spending months vacationing at Rod's home discovering the East Coast and stopping at friends from coast to coast as they returned to Billings. She was forced to confront stillness, and it was hard for her, but she never complained and she never asked for pity. She fought, and she fought right up until her journey Home. Over the years, all of us learned so much from her, by listening to her, by watching her. Today she has reached her forever sanctuary - no pain, great peace and watching over us.

Jeanne was the friend/neighbor who loved me thru hard spots with my teenagers. She was a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on. No matter how sick she was, she always had a smile and a laugh. I loved her dearly and will miss her a bunch! Sally Kiko

Larry & Family, It was only a few days ago I talked with Jeanne and it is hard to imagine we won't be talking again here on earth. Jeanne and I were classmates all through the years and graduated together. She always desired excellence in whatever she did and was successful in obtaining her goal. I can say she was a "real trooper" through the years and met each issue admirably. I will certainly miss her. "WELL DONE GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT'' Norma Jean

Jeanne was my boss at the Mental Health Center 35 years ago or so. Although we connected very infrequently over the years afterwards, I’ll never forget her radiant smile and how she always had a giggle and sincere caring that radiated from her despite how she was physically feeling. She was a gem! RIP!

What a woman! She was everything to her family. I was privileged to be her friend and she was such an inspiration to me. We were in a prayer/study group for a while and she shared and taught me so much. She will be missed and I look forward to her intercession for me as my journey continues. My love and support goes out to her family. You will be lifted up in my prayers.

Larry&Family, Our deepest sympathy and condolences with the loss of Jeanne, She and her family were a blessing many times to our family when we needed an Angel. Jeanne ,Larry ,Rod and Rhonda were neighbors of ours when my sisters and I were very young. When our parents split up (1967) times were hard for our mother. So that Christmas we got a special invitation to come to their house on Christmas Eve They said there would be a someone there that wanted to see us.Jeanne welcomed us into their house And told us to wait for the visitor...Well Santa (Larry) showed up..and all I really remember how neat it was that Santa came and gave us presents and how special we felt. On behalf of my Mom(Mickey)and my sisters we truly thank Jeanne & Larry for the kindness and generosity they showed our family. There really are Angels in the world .
