Belva Foland

At the age of 97, Belva Roseva Foland passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Eagle Cliff Manor in Billings, Montana. She was born August 4, 1913 in Henry, Nebraska, the daughter of Ralph and Rose (Cox) Childs. She was a 1931 graduate of Torrington High School in Torrington, Wyoming. Belva met Mendel “Dow” Foland while ice skating at Little Moon Lake. They were married August 8, 1932 in Sidney, Nebraska and were married fifty-four wonderful years before his passing. In her younger years, Belva enjoyed swimming, ice skating and bike riding. She loved to play cards (bridge, cribbage and pinochle) and enjoyed making hooked rugs. She was a wonderful homemaker, great cook and loved to travel. Belva had a passion for music; she played saxophone in high school, played the piano and taught herself how to play the organ. She enjoyed her pets and raised Pekinese dogs. Belva is survived by her brother, Arlie of Nampa, ID; son Dennis of Newport Beach, CA; granddaughter Deni Cellmer of Portland, OR; grandsons Todd Israel of Glasgow, MT, Doug Foland of Charlotte, NC, Randy Foland of Upland, CA, Darren Foland of Alta Loma, CA, and Mike Israel of Helena, MT; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Belva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband “Dow”; daughter Glenda Israel, sisters Majel, Marine, Nellie; brothers Don and Jennings. Cemetery: Graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 at the Dahl Funeral Chapel.
