Victor Frank

Victor Frank passed away on Thursday morning June 8, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was a fighter until the very end. Victor was born on January 25th, 1932 in Dickinson, North Dakota, just north of the family farm. He was born to Sebastian and Agatha (Gerhardt) Frank. He was the 2nd of nine children. He attended St. Pius school in Scheffield, North Dakota. Vic was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served 21 ½ months, 15 of which were serving in the Korean Conflict. Vic served as a chaplain assistant while in Korea and was discharged as a staff sergeant. After returning to the states, Vic married the love of his life, Loretta Gustin on June 7th, 1955. They then moved to Billings, MT where they raised seven children, Gary, Belinda, Carla, Liane, Darin, Pam and Kyle. Vic spent the majority of his working life in the flour mill industry, 27 ½ years with Peavey Flour Mills and then 10 years with Cereal Foods Processor. Vic retired on May 1st, 1994. He loved his family dearly as well as his St. Pius X Parish family. Vic enjoyed playing pool, cards/games and fishing. Vic also had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick to make people laugh. Vic was very giving of his time by helping his neighbors whether it was blowing snow or just being the neighborhood handy man. Vic also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul as well as donating his time to the upkeep of the grounds and the cemetery surrounding St. Pius X Church. Vic was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Jacob and sisters Rita & Martha. He is survived by his brother Bede (Rose) Frank and sisters Delores Brinster, Hildegarde Huck, Gladys (Ben) Zastoupil and Millie (Raymond) Stockert; his seven children, Gary (Lori) Frank, of Vacouver, WA, Belinda (Mike) Hansen, of Queen Creek, AZ, Carla (Mike) Oberg, of Laurel, MT, Liane (Craig) Wright, of Chandler, AZ, Darin (Kim) Frank, of Billings, MT, Pam (Dan) Miller, of Billings, MT, and Kyle (Lori) Frank, of Billings, MT; his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Vigil service will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Monday June 12th at 6:00 p.m. with the funeral Mass taking place at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Tuesday June 13th at 1:00 p.m. Luncheon to follow at St. Thomas Parish located at 24th and Colton Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special K Ranch or RiverStone Hospice House where Vic received incredible compassionate care during his final days.
