Obituary
Elaine Joyce Frey, 78, was born on June 10, 1938 in New Deal, Montana to Carl and Lillian Mathison. Elaine passed away peacefully on August 25, 2016. She married John Frey on June 26, 1959 and together they raised three children. After raising her children to school age and moving to Sidney, Montana, she then took a position as a Legal Secretary for 32 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling with good friends, lake time with family, and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Elaine is survived by her husband John of 57 years, her children Antoinette “Toni Kay” Smelser, Erika (Tom) Jankowski and Paul (Tina) Frey; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and brother Duane (Caroline) Mathison. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Delbert, 2 grandsons Jerrick and Orin; and great-grandson Jamie. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel.

To the Frey family - I am so sorry to hear of Elaine's passing as our families were close for many years. I remember Elaine growing up and her family. We all grew up together - yes John I do remember you too. So sorry for your loss and may God grant you peace at this time. My prayers for your family and again so sorry for your loss.

Curtis D. Carter To John Frey and family: also to Elaine's brother Duane. I would like to reminisce a little back when we were kids. First of all, our family's moved to Kinsey in the year of 1941, I was two years old and Elaine was a little older than I. On December 7th, 41 WW ll broke out. And between Christmas and New Years the school house at Kinsey burned down. Then all of our siblings continued to attend classes in make shift class rooms at the warehouse which became the CO-OP and was able to finish that school year. In the school year of 42-43, we moved to town so the kids could attend school and I believe at the Washington school. We all stayed in an apartment house on 720 Woodbury. (which is still there)Elaine and I were in the neighborhood of being 3 years old. While the kids were in school , Elaine and I played a lot together for the next two years that we had stayed there. There was a Ma and Pa store South and across the RR tracks called Burgies, about a block and a half from the 720. A couple things that I remember is Elaine and I went over to Burgies with a nickle and two pennies, when Mr. Burgie asked what we wanted, we said that we wanted a pair of roller skates. All Mr. Burgie would do is laugh. We never got skates but, did quit well with some candy. I also remember my mom and Elaine's mom meeting troupe trains and giving out cookies and coffee. As we grew up and attended school at Kinsey, I remember Elaine being very good at school work, always had good grades and as well as being on time, unlike me who looked out the windows a little to much. Anyway after High School I had kind of lost track if you and Elaine. At this time we would like to extend our deepest sympathy for your loss of your wife,mother,grandmother and sister.
