George Friesen

“No one did not like George”, said one of George's sophomore classmates at Billings Central. “Boys, teachers, coaches, and especially the older girls—they all liked George. And you know that is pretty rare in high school”. George Cameron Friesen, born November 9, 1997, died July 13, 2013. George was born in Billings and touched many lives in his 15 ½ years. Much to the dismay of his friends and family, but to the benefit of heaven, George has joined his dad in paradise. When George, then known as Cameron, was three years old his mom Lisa enrolled him in Billings Gymnastics. This adventure started many friendships that last still today. When “Cameron” was in second grade he decided George was a more befitting name and asked his mom if he could be called by his first name. His mom said that was fine and so it was. Little League fans enjoyed cheering the older name “George” as the little, but mighty tike hit a number of home-runs. Although quiet by nature, George was a prankster and had an infectious smile. Along with many other endearing qualities, George is also known for his charitable heart. Following the Katrina disaster, he asked his mom if they could put on a fundraiser/Haunted House. For a number of years friends and family joined in the fun as money was donated to various charities. One charity particularly near and dear to his heart was B.A.R.K. (animal rescue). In addition to these projects George enjoyed his volunteer work for Eagle Mount. George was an avid athlete, often the favorite of coaches. During his 8th grade year, he was the recipient of the “Ram's Chair”; a coveted award given to the best Football players. He was known for his passion and dedication to the game. He started young playing soccer and baseball, teaching his mom the rules of the game along the way. He later discovered football and wrestling, where he excelled. Before entering high school George began weight lifting which, and along with football, became his greatest passions. After a full and grueling football practice, George could be found in a weight room many additional hours. He was a “lean, keen, team-building machine.” He was excited for this football season to start, knowing he would be playing for the Central Rams. It looks like George will be playing for the Heavenly Saints this season instead. George loved Body Building, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman, X-box, sports cars, hanging out with his buddies, his dogs, and he especially loved his mom who cared for him and loved him with all of her heart. George is preceded in death by his dad, Shaun Friesen, his grandparents (George and Jean Friesen), and his great-grand-parents (Guillermo and Elisa Gardea and Vidal and Eloisa Lopez). George is survived by his mom, Lisa Lopez, grandparents Erminio Lopez, Mary and Robert Chavez, Uncle Danny Lopez, Uncle Rob and Tamra Chavez. And he also has enjoyed numerous other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl Chapel. Service: Please join us in celebrating George's life at St. Pius X Church. A vigil will be held Thursday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m. The memorial mass will be held Friday the 19 at 11:00 a.m., burial and reception following.
