Obituary

Ingrid Marie (Barstad) Fugere, 78, died peacefully on December 14, 2011 at RiverStone Hospice, Billings, MT after a brief battle with cancer. She passed from this earth to heaven with all of her children and loving family at her side. Ingrid was born September 23, 1933 in Scobey, Montana to Mikkel and Ingeborg Barstad, who immigrated to Montana from Telemark, Norway. She graduated from Scobey High School in 1951 and after graduation attended the University of Montana in Missoula. As ill as Ingrid was she made certain she watched the Griz play their game Friday night in her home. “Go Griz!”. Ingrid married Wayne Fugere on February 26, 1954 and from this union had six wonderful children. Ingrid worked as an accountant for Nemont Telephone for 30 years until her retirement in 1998. Prior to Nemont she worked at the Madoc Elevator and on the family farm where they raised their children and taught them togetherness, hard work, and how very important family is and always will be. Ingrid was loved by all of her family, co-workers, and everyone whose lives she touched. She was the kindest, most gentle, loving and forgiving person you could meet. Ingrid was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, of 53 years; her parents; her sister, Ingebjorg; and brothers, Gjermund and Johnny Barstad. She is survived by sisters, Agnes Nielson, Haldis Van Buskirk, and Gunvor Mahlberg; daughters, Michele Marie Coleman (Ronald), Phyllis Jayne Lantz, Teresa Lea Daniel (Frank), and Tammy Jo Nelson; sons, Paul Wayne (Isabel) and Thomas Michael Fugere; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Service: Memorial Services for Ingrid will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 16 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life memorial will be held in Scobey, Montana, along with the burial of her ashes at a later date to be announced.
